Week 6- November 18, 2009
It’s crazy that it has been 6 weeks already. I know it sounds like nothing but to me it’s a lot! This week my tiredness has increased and sometimes it is hard to get up in the morning to go to work. I really think my body would be okay with sleeping all day and night with some breaks of course to eat! I had my first unfortunate sickness event and of course it didn’t happen in the morning while I was at home, it happened after lunch at work. I was feeling great after lunch but then all of sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt dizzy, hot and nauseous. I immediately packed up my lap top and left work in a cab. Let me tell you that I barely made it home before I got sick! And taking a cab when you feel like you want to throw up is not a good thing! I really enjoy how fast a cab can get you place to place on a normal day but not when you feel like you are going to die.
I am happy to say that this crazy sickness only happened one day and has yet to come back! Knock on wood of course. I would really hate to jinx myself.
We went to the doctor on November 20th and saw the baby’s heartbeat for the first time! That was so exciting! At that moment I think it really hit me. There really is a baby growing inside of me! The heartbeat was such a relief to hear and it really eased my concern. Of course while I was at the office the doctor ran through all of the items you can’t eat (soft cheese, lunch meat) and informed me that the miscarriage rate is 1 and 5. That really shocked me because I really was not expecting it to be that high. I pray every night that this baby will make it through!

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, and chin. Those little hands and feet -- still webbed like paddles -- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate. How Sweet is that!!

Congrats!! You two are going to be great parents!
