Tragedy

This event happened months ago but I feel that it was very necessary to share! My husband and I were on our way back from vacation in Mexico on Monday, July 20th when we got the dreaded call while waiting in the Dallas airport for our plane. Jim’s close friend was involved in a horrible altercation outside of a bar in the south suburbs of Chicago on Friday, July 17th. Without going into too much detail, our friend Eric, was blindsided by a hit to the head and fell backwards onto the cement ground. He immediately was rushed to the hospital and was put into a medically induced coma. The first night he fought for his life and his expectancy to live was very slim. I am happy to say that he made it through that night but continues to fight for his life to this day. His journey from the day he was hit has been very long and tiring. He is still in a coma (not medically induced) but he is showing some signs of improvement! We hope and pray every day that he will wake up and bless us with his presence.

The first purpose of this post is to ask everyone to keep Eric in your prayers. He has so many people by his side but a few more couldn’t hurt!

The second purpose of this post is to shed some light on the unnecessary violence that occurs inside/outside of bars. Why is it necessary for guys, and girls for that matter, to fight to prove a point? You are not the better person if you beat somebody up. You actually are the better person if you walk away.

I know my husband has vowed to never fight again and has chosen in the future to ‘just walk away’ because it is not worth the consequences. Please pass Eric’s story onto your friends and family. Eric’s story is not a story you would wish upon anyone.

Please help us pray!!
