Christmas Time is Here

Did I ever mention how much I love this time of year? Well, I do!! I love all of the lights, the Christmas trees and the first snow. Of course after the first snow I am pretty much over the weather but I guess I will just have to deal!

Jim and I decided to decorate our place for Christmas a few weeks before Thanksgiving since we knew that we were not going to have guests during that time. I know what you are thinking... I can't believe you decorated before Thanksgiving. Well, we just love this time of year and we wanted to enjoy it for a few extra weeks. Plus I decided that this year was the year that I was going to start my Christmas village!

Growing up I was always in charge of setting up my moms village and loved doing it! So I convinced J that I needed to start my own! Surprisingly he was totally all about it and helped my pick out my first couple of pieces! I can't wait to add on to it every year!

We also set up our Christmas tree. I know it looks very similar to a 'Charlie Brown' tree but since our place is small we could not go with a bigger tree. Jim promised me that when we move to a house we will get a large, full, white light tree. (Jim likes multi lights and I prefer the white lights. I let him have the multi colored lights on our first tree since I knew the next tree will be so much better!)

We also have this great tradition in our family that we receive a new ornament for our tree every year. I love this tradition because every ornament we put on the tree has a meaning and a purpose. My goal is to keep this tradition going with our family. So far I have collected a few ornaments from our vacations! I just can't wait to look at the ornaments 10, 15, 30 years from now and remember where we were when we bought the ornaments!

I hope everyone enjoys their Monday. Do you have any Christmas traditions within your family?

  1. Our tree is tiny (3') and looks like Charlie Brown tree too. I also like the white lights way better.

Your place looks so cute for the holidays!! D and I need to get some stockings...where did you get your initial ones?

  2. Every Christmas Eve my sister and I watch a funny movie (usually Old School) and snuggle up together in her room - then I wake up at 4am, run downstairs to see what Santa brought, then run back upstairs and wake up my parents and sister! This year will be diff because I am married! My sister is going to sleep on the floor of my room and we are both going to wake my hubs up at 4am to see the gifts from Santa!
